FREE snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at Brundage Point in Grand Bay - Westfield.

Half-Marathon Nordic Walking Training

Just a reminder that DayTripping will be offering 10-week training sessions to help Nordic Walkers prepare for this year's half-marathons in Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton and Ottawa. The first training session will take place on March 1st in preparation for the Fredericton Marathon which will take place on May 9th and the Ottawa Marathon which is on May 30th.

DayTripping has blocked 10 rooms at the Delta hotel in Fredericton for Nordic Walkers the night before the Marathon at the special price of $99 per night. The hotel is within walking distance of the marathon start/finish line.

The fee of $330 per person quad, $365 triple, $435 double and $655 single is based on a minimum of 35 paying participants. (Cost will increase per participants should minimum not be reached). Priority will be given to passengers in the order that registration fees are received.

In order to avoid disappointment, we encourage you to reserve your seat as soon as possible, and not later than April 12, 2010 as seats are limited. Full payment is due April 16, 2010.  Pickup/drop will be in Moncton, Sussex, Saint John and Fredericton areas.

Family Fit Days

Great savings on our guided activities for the whole family!

Saturday mornings only, from 10:00 am until noon.

Just pick an activity:
- Guided snowshoeing through the trails of Rockwood Park
- Guided cross-country skiing through the trails of Rockwood Park
- Pond hockey on Lily Lake

Pre-registration is required. Each family member can pick an activity for the two-hour period. Not everyone has to do the same thing!

Cost:
Family of 4 - $30.00
Family of 3 - $25.00
Additional family members: $5.00

Nordic Walking Groups

Walking Proud Nordic Walking Club – Now FREE to participate!

If you are looking for a fun and an enthusiastic walking group, let Yennah Hurley and her trained Nordic Walking Instructors take you on a great walk. They meet all over the city five days a week morning or evening. All you have to do is show up at any of the following locations.

Morning Nordic Walking Groups:

  • Monday - Wednesday - Friday -  Rothesay Baptist Church, Parking Lot on the Right, bring indoor shoes to walk in the gym, 8:55 am.
  • Tuesday and Thursday - DayTripping @ Rockwood Park, 9:30 am.

Evening Nordic Walking Groups:

  • Monday – Red Whale Parking Lot, Quispamsis, 6:30 pm.
  • Tuesday – Alex Coffin's Fitness Shop, Harbour Passage, Market Square, 6:30 pm.
  • Thursday – DayTripping @ Rockwood Park, 6:30 pm.

These walks are led by certified Nordic Walking instructors. Come try it out! It’s free to try. Once you discover how beneficial Nordic Walking is, we offer Nordic Walking poles for rent or purchase.

Moonlit Snowshoe Treks

We've had a great turn-out for our moonlit snowshoe treks!

Join us for a snowshoe outing under the stars this winter....

- Friday, February 19 at 9:00 pm *NEW TIME*
- Friday, February 26 at 10:00 pm
- Friday, March 26 at 10:00 pm

Leaving from the Lily Lake Pavilion, we go for a one-hour guided trek through Rockwood Park trails. These relaxed-pace excursions are a fun way to embrace the opportunities winter has to offer with its snowy trails and bright moonlit nights. Meet us at DayTripping Headquarters.

In the event of inclement weather, we'll just try again the following Friday.

The cost is just $5 per person if you bring your own pair of snowshoes, or $20 includes snowshoe rental.

Pre-registration is required, particularly for those who require snowshoe rental. A LIMITED NUMBER OF SNOWSHOES ARE AVAILABLE.

Just call us at 657-8747 in advance so reserve your snowshoes.

19" - Up to 100 lbs

21” - Up to 140 lbs

DayTripping @ Rockwood Park is your year-round headquarters for all things adventurous. This winter, come out and explore over 26 kilometres of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Join our Nordic Walking groups on a morning or evening walk. Search for buried treasure using a GPS. Whether you’re looking for a challenging adventure or a relaxing outing, we’ll provide the equipment and expertise to make your day trip an exciting one.

We rent snowshoes and cross-country skis, poles and boots as well as Nordic Walking poles. We have a selection of snowshoes for sale, along with Nordic Walking poles and we’re clearing out our inventory of roller blades. We offer corporate team building activities, programs for school and one-of-a-kind birthday party events.
