Spring Kayaking

SPRING KAYAKING - LEARN A NEW SKILL AND HAVE FUN DOING IT. 

Intro Kayaking
Introduction to Kayaking introduces the novice to paddling a kayak in calm sheltered water. Rescue techniques at this level incorporate the use of a paddling partner.

Location: This is a sheltered waters course such as a Lake

Duration: 1 day
Dates:  
Prerequisites: none, except a desire for fun and no issue getting wet!!
Cost: $85/person not including equipment/$95 with Kayak/Skirt/Paddle + HST

Beginner Recreational River Kayak (Long Boats & Open Cockpit)

The Beginner River Kayaking skill level is designed to introduce the novice or relatively inexperienced kayaker to paddling moving water with perhaps some Class I. The emphasis is on learning and practicing the fundamentals of kayaking, along with a strong grounding in water safety and safe kayaking practices. Our goal is that you will be able to safely paddle your open cockpit kayak (no spray skirt) down rivers such as the Hammond/Nerepis/ Nashwaak/Pollet/upper St. We will use a 'Comfort-to-Control' technique to get you over your fears and reservations and into enjoyment of the sport of kayaking.

Location: Day 1 on the Lake, Day 2 on a Class 1 River with an option to portage around major rapids
Duration: 2 days
Dates:  May 3-4
Prerequisites: There are no kayaking prerequisites, except a desire for fun and no issue getting wet!!
Cost: $135/person not including equipment/$150 with Kayak/Skirt/Paddle  + HST  

Beginner Whitewater Kayak (Paddling closed deck whitewater kayaks with spray skirts)
The Beginner River Kayaking skill level is designed to introduce the novice or relatively inexperienced kayaker to paddling moving water with perhaps some Class I-2. The emphasis is on learning and practicing the fundamentals of kayaking, along with a strong grounding in water safety and safe kayaking practices. Our goal is that you will be able to safely paddle your your whitewater kayak (no spray skirt) down rivers such as the Digdeguash/Magaguadavic/Eel/lower St.Croix. We will use a 'Comfort-to-Control' technique to get you over your fears and reservations and into enjoyment of the sport of kayaking.

Location: Day 1 on the Lake, Day 2 on a Class 1-2+ River with an option to portage around major rapids
Duration: 2 days
Dates:  April 26-27
Prerequisites: There are no kayaking prerequisites, except a desire for fun and no issue getting wet!!
Cost: $135/person not including equipment/$135 with Kayak/Skirt/Paddle  + HST
